Capsicum masala


This is a dry curry.It is very easy to prepare and the taste is just amazing.
Ingredients:
Capsicum-3
Onion-3 (cut into thin strips)
Tomato-2
Red chilli powder-1 Tbsp
Garam Masala powder-1 Tbsp
Salt to taste
Method:

Take 3 tbsp of oil in a frying pan. Add capsicum and onion and fry till it is half cooked. Add tomatoes.Add chilli powder and garam masala powder along with salt and fry till it leaves oil.
Serve with chapathi.
Variation: Add ginger-garlic paste and cashew paste while frying onions.

Vegetable Biryani


This is one of the ways of preparing vegetable biryani. Its easy to prepare and tastes good.
Ingredients:
Basmathi rice- 1 cup
Finely cut vegetables - 2 cups
Onion - 1 ( cut into thin long pieces)
Green chillies - 5
Chopped coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
Mint leaves- 1 tbsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 2 tsp
To Grind:
Fresh coconut- 1 Cup
Corainder seeds- 3 Tsp
Khus khus seeds (gasagase)-1 tsp
Cloves-2
Cinnamon-2
Cardamom-2
Onions-2 big
Ginger and garlic paste-2 tsp
Method:
Wash basmathi rice. Pressure cook with 2 cups of water.
Heat ghee in a pan. Fry the garam masala spices, chopped onion, green chillies. Add the cut vegetables, coriander leaves and mint leaves. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and cook till the vegetables become tender. Add ground masala paste and cook until oil separates.
Finally add prepared rice and lemon juice.
Serve with onion raitha.

Gobi Masala

One of my all time favorites. Make sure you try this.
Ingredients:
Cauliflower-1( Boil the florets in hot water with little turmeric and salt)
Onion-3/4
Tomato-2/3
Curds-3 Tbsp
Corainder leaves - 2 Tbsp
Garam Masala-2 Tsp
Jeera Powder-2 Tsp
Red chilli Powder-1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder-1 Tsp
Green chillies -4
Ginger Garlic paste-1 Tsp
Preparation:
Grind onion and ginger-garlic paste. Heat ghee in a pan. Add cauliflower and fry till it turns brown in color.Add the ground masala paste and fry. Add all the masala powders. Add tomatoes and cut green chillies.Add curd. Add little water to make a gravy.Fry on medium flame till oil separates. Serve hot with chapathis.




Bisibelebath

Here is mom's bisibelebath recipe u've wanted since u girls got married ;)

Bisibelebath powder:

Coriander Seeds (Dhaniya) -1 Cup

Bengal Gram(kadale bele)-1/2 Cup

Black Gram (Uddina Bele)-1/2 Cup(little less)

Red Chilli (Byadagi Menasinakayi) -12/15

Pepper-1/2 Tsp

Fenugreek(Menthya) -1/4 Tsp

Jeera - 2 Tsp

Cinnamon (Chekke)- 2 Inch

Cloves - 4

Curry leaves - 1 strand

Cardamom -1

Fry all the above ingredients in 1/2 tsp of oil and powder .

Preparation:

Take a pressure cooker. Add one cup of washed rice and 3/4 cup of tuar dal( togari bele).Add 2-3 cups of cut vegetables. Add capsicum and onion.Capsicums give special taste to bisibelebath. Add groundnuts if required.Add 1/2 cup tamarind juice and jaggery( as required). Add 2 tbsp of dry/fresh coconut.Add 1 cup of oil and 3 tbsp of ghee. Add 8 cups of water. Add bisibele bath powder . Add salt. Mix the ingredients in the pressure cooker thoroughly. Now place the cooker on the stove and cook till 1 whistle ( the cooker can be removed from fire just before the first whistle or depending on the pressure cooker).

Heat little ghee/oil. Splutter mustard seeds, 2 red chillis, asafoetida(hing), cashew and garnish. Hot bisibelebath is ready to be served with boondi/potato chips.
